Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can Memo really grade my IELTS speaking?

Yes — Memo Speaking scores your answers across the same four criteria that human IELTS examiners use: Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, and Pronunciation. It transcribes your voice, analyses your language, and produces a band score with written examiner-style feedback after every part.

What is the difference between IELTS Speaking Parts 1, 2 and 3?

Part 1 is a 4–5 minute interview on everyday topics like home, work, and hobbies. Part 2 is a long turn — you receive a task card and have one minute to prepare before speaking for 1–2 minutes on the topic. Part 3 is a 4–5 minute discussion on abstract themes linked to your Part 2 topic. Each part tests a different level of language complexity.

How is the IELTS speaking band score calculated?

Your speaking band is the average of four criteria — Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, and Pronunciation — each worth 25%. The four scores are averaged and rounded to the nearest 0.5.

How many credits do I need for a full IELTS Speaking test?

A Full Test uses 3 credits — one per part. Quick Practice for a single part uses 1 credit. Pro subscribers receive 3 free speaking credits every week before any purchased credits are used.

Do speaking credits expire?

No. Purchased credits stay on your account indefinitely — there is no monthly reset or expiry date. Buy a pack and use them at whatever pace suits your preparation.

Is Memo Speaking available on mobile?

Yes. Memo Speaking works on mobile browsers and as a PWA you can install to your home screen. Recording, transcription, and feedback all work on iOS and Android.
