Most tools grade.Memo remembers.
Every session, Memo learns your writing — coaching you live, deepening its feedback, and building exercises around your weak spots, so you improve with every attempt.
Memo: “Subject-verb agreement appears in 5 of your last 7 essays — your #1 score blocker.”
The problem
Others read it.
Memo learns it.
One-off feedback tells you what went wrong today. Memo tracks what keeps going wrong — across every essay you write.
- One-shot grading — no memory
- Same generic feedback every time
- Forgets your last session
- You guess what to practise next
- Tells you the score, not the pattern
- Remembers every mistake across all essays
- Guides and reminds as you write
- Gives feedback with sentence rewrites
- Builds exercises from your error patterns
- Fixes overused words with synonyms
Feature 01 · AI Memory
Your mistakes,
tracked.
Most tools give feedback and forget. IELTS Memo builds a live memory of your writing — tracking which errors appear once and which keep coming back to cost you bands.
After just 3 essays, you'll see exactly which mistakes are patterns. After 9, you'll know which single error is holding your score back more than anything else.
Memo: Subject-verb errors appear in 7 of 9 essays — your #1 band limiter.
Feature 02 · Guide Mode
Your essay,
coached live.
Turn on Guide Mode and the AI coaches you every ~10 words — before you submit. No more finishing an essay and then discovering the same grammar error you always make.
It knows your weak spots from your history. So when you're about to repeat an old mistake, it nudges you in real time.
“Argue both sides of automation. Bring an example.”
Strong opener. Now bring the counter-argument so Coherence stays high.
Choose the correct option to complete the sentence:
The number of students who enrolled ___ to 5,200 last year.
Correct!
Use past simple(rose) for completed actions at a specific past time. “Last year” signals a finished period.
Feature 03 · Targeted Drills
Target mistakes.Nothing else.
Generic exercises don't move your score. Your exercises are generated directly from your error patterns — so every drill targets an actual weakness.
If you consistently misuse past simple, you get tense exercises. Weak conclusions? Paragraph structure drills. Each exercise is a direct attack on your score blockers.
Feature 04 · Memo Chat & Speaking Practice
Your IELTS tutor.Always here.
Ask anything in writing, or practise speaking with Memo as your examiner. Chat about band transitions, grammar, and essay structure — or jump into a full Speaking test across Parts 1, 2 and 3.
On your essay feedback page, tap Ask Memo and your full context loads automatically. For Speaking, Memo scores you on all four IELTS criteria — Fluency, Lexical Resource, Grammar, and Pronunciation.

Why choose IELTS Memo
Purpose-built for IELTS improvement
Every other option has a critical gap. IELTS Memo was built to close all of them.
vs Human Tutors
Structured feedback, fraction of the cost.
vs Generic AI
Memory that lifts your score.
vs Textbooks
Your writing, not generic rules.
Our philosophy
Language you can
actually learn.
Most IELTS tools push students toward formal, thesaurus-heavy writing that sounds impressive but is impossible to remember under exam pressure. Memo is built differently — every rewrite, model answer, and exercise uses real, learnable English.
Natural English, not thesaurus words
Rewrites use words you'd actually write — nothing that sounds like it came from a dictionary lookup.
Model answers that feel achievable
Band 8+ models are written the way an excellent student writes — not like an academic paper.
Band 7+ means precise, not complex
The right word used naturally beats a rare word used impressively. Memo coaches you toward that.
Every suggestion you can realistically adopt
If you wouldn't use it under exam pressure, we won't suggest it.

Article Usage Drills
Choose the correct article:
“Education plays ___ important role in development.”
Why:“Important” starts with a vowel sound — so “an” is correct. “A” is used before consonant sounds.
Pricing
Less than one lesson.
Better than one tutor.
A failed IELTS retake costs $200. One tutor hour costs $30–80. Memo Pro is $15/month — and it never forgets a session.

FAQ
Common questions
How accurate is the AI band scoring?
Our AI is calibrated against official IELTS band descriptors across all four criteria. Scores are consistent and detailed enough to identify exactly where your writing falls short — but they are estimates, not official IELTS results. For borderline decisions (e.g. is your writing 6.5 or 7.0?), treat them as a guide rather than a guarantee.
Does it work for both Academic and General Training?
Yes. Academic Task 1 (graphs, charts, maps, process diagrams with image upload), General Training Task 1 (formal, semi-formal, and informal letters), and Task 2 essays for both modules. The Vocabulary Builder and Word Bank also cover academic vocabulary relevant to both modules.
How long does feedback take?
Most essays are fully analysed in under 60 seconds. Complex Task 2 responses may take up to 90 seconds.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — fully mobile-friendly and installable as a PWA (add to home screen). Submit essays, read feedback, do exercises, and browse the Word Bank all from your phone. The Synonym Scanner also works with tap on mobile.
How does the error memory work?
Every time you submit an essay, Memo tracks which error types appeared — grammar, vocabulary, coherence, structure. After 2–3 essays it starts surfacing recurring patterns as score blockers, so your feedback gets more personal over time. Exercises are also generated from your own error history, not generic drills.
How many essays before patterns appear?
The memory system flags recurring patterns after 2–3 essays. By your 5th you'll have a clear picture of your top score blockers — with real examples from your own writing.
What is Guide Mode?
Live AI coaching as you write — every ~10 words it analyses what you've typed, updates your live band estimate, and surfaces suggestions based on your personal error history. Free users get 2 sessions per month; Pro users get 5 sessions per day.
What is the Word Bank?
A built-in library of 1,500 IELTS vocabulary words organised by CEFR level (B1–C2) and topic — environment, technology, health, and more. Each word comes with a definition and example sentence. Sign in free to track which words you've mastered across sessions.
What is the Synonym Scanner?
An AI tool built into every page — tap the scan icon in the nav bar to activate it, then tap any word to instantly see 2 IELTS-appropriate synonyms, one at Band 6 and one at Band 7. Tap any blank area (or the icon again) to deactivate it. It helps you upgrade weak vocabulary on the spot while reading your feedback.
Does Memo also coach IELTS Speaking?
Yes. The Speaking Practice feature lets you pick a Part (1, 2, or 3), receive an examiner-style question, and record your spoken response. Memo transcribes your answer and scores it across all four IELTS criteria — Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, and Pronunciation — plus gives a Band 7 model answer so you can compare. After 3 or more sessions, Memo builds a speaking memory of your recurring weaknesses and factors them into future feedback. Pro users get 3 sessions per 7-day window; additional sessions are available as credits.
